Jay C. Hormel was the driving force behind many new Hormel
products, and introduced innovative concepts such as the Hormel Girls
and the Hormel Chili Beaners.

Technology
Through innovative technology and a strict adherence to proven procedures, Hormel Foods has established itself as a trusted source in the industry and a leader in food safety.
For example, by employing a cutting-edge, cold water-based pasteurization process, Hormel® Natural Choice® products are sliced, sealed and packaged—and then placed in a Truetaste® technology chamber where 87,000 pounds per square inch of water pressure are exerted, protecting against harmful bacteria.
This all-natural process is USDA approved and means we don’t have to compromise the meat’s great taste, texture, appearance or nutritional value.*
*TrueTaste® technology is not used on the Hormel® Natural Choice® Uncured Bacon or Applewood Smoked Ham products.
