Get in the holiday spirit with this show-stopping HORMEL® NATURAL CHOICE® Uncured Sandwich Pepperoni Wreath. This dish is simple to make, but is the perfect addition to a holiday party, cozy night in or celebrating the holidays with the ones you love.
Ingredients
2 | (7.8-ounce) packages round and thin pizza crust refrigerated dough |
¾ | cup marinara sauce, divided |
1 | (6-ounce) package HORMEL® NATURAL CHOICE® Uncured Sandwich Pepperoni, roughly chopped |
1 | cup shredded mozzarella cheese |
1 | large egg, beaten |
Fresh basil leaves, for garnish if desired |
Directions
Heat oven to 425°F.
Unroll pizza dough crusts. Using a 3-inch biscuit cutter, cut out the center of each round.
Place one pizza dough crust ring on parchment paper lined baking sheet. Spread ring with 1/3 cup marinara sauce. Sprinkle with cheese. Top with pepperoni. Cover with second pizza dough crust ring, pinching edges to seal.
Using a paring knife, cut 1 ½ -inch wide strips into wreath from the outside and stopping 1 ½-inches from the center all around. Gently turn each strip twice to create a twist, then press edges down on parchment. Repeat until all strips have been twisted.
In small bowl, whisk egg with a few drops of water. Using a pastry brush, brush wreath with egg wash.
Bake 18 to 22 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve with remaining marinara sauce. Garnish with basil, if desired.
